An Indian Orthodox Icon of St. Gregorios of Parumala,
It is very uncommon for Icons to be written in the indian Orthodox community, and usually when they are they have a very strong Latin influence, as though they have simply placed a catholic piece of art onto an Icon background. This is why seeing Icons such as this light up my day.
As well as Mar Gregorios being one of my favourite saints (This year, Me and J went on Pilgrimage to a Church he built) the icon combines the Byzantine and Syriac styles beautifully. It demonstrates a striving for Traditional Orthodoxy in a community which has had a 2000 year identity crisis.
